Join the fun and festivities while the midnight sun hangs high in the sky.
The Slam’n Salm’n Derby is an annual fundraiser for the Downtown Soup Kitchen. It will take place across from the Ulu Factory.
Admission is FREE. So join in on the fun, grab a pole, and head to Ship Creek in downtown Anchorage to catch some king salmon!
When: June 10th, 2015 – June 19st, 2016

Many Anchorage residents still this race by its old name — the Midnight Sun Marathon. The full-marathon takes you through various parts of East Anchorage foothills and bike trails, ending at the Park Strip downtown. This race is sanctioned by USA Track and Field and is recognized by the Boston Marathon as a qualifying event.
The half-marathon follows a good part of the Coastal Trail, ending also the Park Strip.
When: Saturday, June 18 2016; marathon 7:30am start
Where: full marathon start at Bartlett High School, half-marathon start at Delaney Park Strip
The Solstice Festival takes place on 4th Avenue between C – L Streets from 12 noon-6:00pm. It’s a total blast, and includes the Hero Games, Rage City Roller Girls, a petting zoo and giant sandbox for the kids, The Taste of Anchorage Food zone, pro skateboarders and Alaskan arts and crafts.
The Festival is a short drive from Creekwood Inn, and it’s perfect way to spend your day. Find out about the exciting events.

Located at the base of Alyeska mountain 36 miles south of Anchorage, the Girdwood Forest Fair is a serious good time for families, couples and hard-core partiers alike.
Dance to live music near the beer garden and enjoy the food and crafts of local artisans set up along a winding path through a magical Alaskan forest. No admission fee.
When: July 1 – 3, 2016 (11am – 8pm on July 1 and 2; 11am – 6pm July 3; parade at 10am on July 2)

Celebrate America’s birthday on July 4th in true Alaskan style in Downtown Anchorage at the Delaney Park Strip.
This old-fashioned, patriotic celebration is complete with family-oriented events such as the pancake breakfast at 8am, downtown parade, picnic and other activities.
When: July 4th, 2016, 8am pancake breakfast; parade 11am; rides, games vendors and food noon-6pm.

Travel 15 minutes North of Creekwood Inn to Eagle River, AK and take part in the 2016 Bear Paw Festival, sponsored by the Chugiak-Eagle River Chamber of Commerce.
This year’s theme as “Bear Paw in Paradise!” and events include Friday’s Teddy Bear Picnic, Human Foosball, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, the 5-K Bear Paw Classic, parade and Slippery Salmon Olympics on Saturday and the I Did a Duck Race on Sunday.

Eat, drink and be merry at the Alaska Aviation Museum’s Aviation Festival picnic with food trucks, live music, family fun activities and vintage airplanes. The Alaska Aviation Museum will be flying their 1931 Fairchild Pilgrim along with a variety of other aircraft flying by low along Lake Hood, the busiest seaplane base in the world!
Beer & wine garden and much more! Fun for all ages!

Anchorage Glacier Pilots Baseball
Just because it’s Alaska doesn’t mean we don’t have baseball! The “midnight sun league” of semi-pro players gather here each summer to square off against other rival teams around Alaska throughout the entire summer.
It’s been called the best college level baseball in the nation, with players from all 50 states. Play ball!

Live After 5
Take in a show while in Anchorage! Venture to Downtown Anchorage at Town Square Park any Thursday night between 5:30-7:30pm and enjoy free music, great food and a beer and wine garden. There is something here for everyone.
